Our Happy Hens & Gentleman Rooster Larry

At Oak Creek Family Farm, our flock is more than just a source of eggs; they’re part of our sustainable ecosystem! Our hens give us beautiful, nutritious eggs daily, thanks to their happy, free-ranging life across our five acres. And then there’s Larry, our proud and friendly rooster, who keeps everyone in line with his gentlemanly charm.

Free-Range on 5 Acres

Our chickens roam freely on our property, which gives them plenty of space to forage naturally and enjoy a life in the open air. Free-ranging not only keeps them content but also contributes to the quality of their eggs, adding nutrients and flavor you can taste! Our hens help control pests and enrich the land, working hand-in-hand with the natural rhythms of the farm.

A No-Waste Philosophy

Sustainability is at the core of everything we do. When we hatch more roosters than we need, any extra roosters are used in making bone broth, ensuring nothing on our farm goes to waste. This allows us to make full use of what we raise and nourishes both our family and the community in an ethical, thoughtful way.

Giving Back: Eggs for the Next Generation

We love sharing the joy of raising chickens with our community. Each year, we donate 40 fertilized eggs to the YC Elementary School so that the kindergarten class can incubate them, watch them hatch, and learn about the life cycle up close. It’s a joy to see the kids’ excitement and to support their learning!

After hatching, some of the chicks stay with us, while others go to new homes. We’re thrilled to provide chicks to local families interested in becoming more self-sustainable, helping our community grow in ways that benefit everyone.
